Dexter + Chaney Will Unveil New Research On ‘Top Reasons Technology Doesn’t Achieve Its Goals’ At NECA Show 2010

NEWS RELEASE

Technical workshop (noon October 5) will describe

how companies can avoid technology failure

SEATTLE, August 26, 2010: Your company has invested in new software. You’ve trained your staff. You’re ready to start reaping the benefits of that investment.

But—surprise—the technology doesn’t produce the results your company expected. Now what?

Brad Mathews, vice president of marketing for construction software developer Dexter + Chaney (www.dexterchaney.com; NECA Show booth #819), will address “Top Reasons Technology Doesn’t Achieve Its Goals” in a technical workshop at the NECA Show October 3-5 at the Boston Convention & Exposition Center. The workshop will unveil results of new research in the construction industry that reveals the leading causes of technology failure—and, importantly, how a construction company can avoid them.

The workshop will take place from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, in Room 1, ET-6.

“When technology doesn’t work as expected, it can limit effectiveness, cut productivity and make your company suffer,” Mathews explained. “The workshop will discuss new research that pinpoints the leading causes of failure when a technology implementation doesn’t reach its goals. We’ll share specific strategies and techniques that will help attendees avoid these pitfalls within their own companies. We’ll also discuss the ‘Technology Knowledge Gap,’ and how it hurts a company’s staff and increases costs.”

About Dexter + Chaney

More than 1,000 construction companies throughout the United States use Dexter + Chaney’s Spectrum® Construction Software. Contractors who use Spectrum report they have improved profitability and have grown their businesses more than 300 percent without adding financial staff.

Spectrum is built on the best available technology. That includes the Microsoft SQL Server database, Microsoft Server operating system and a software development framework that uses the best software development tools available. Those tools include Crystal Reports, Java, Microsoft.net and Northgate Information Solutions’ PRO-IV Rapid Application Development Framework.

Dexter + Chaney designed the business processes in Spectrum using PRO-IV. That enables the company to respond quickly to customer needs and thus rank as the technology leader among construction ERP (enterprise resource planning) software developers. For example, Spectrum in 1999 was the first construction management software program to offer integrated document imaging; today, Dexter + Chaney has more customers using its Document Imaging capability than any other construction ERP software company.
